Let’s start with the most important question of all… Who are we?
The House of MAGIC Foundation for the Arts is an organization founded in the hearts and minds of James and Julie Lantiegne. Having personally experienced the impact the arts can have on an individual's development and the effect it has on society, they sought to create a center that not only provides an educational platform for the arts, but also provides a venue for people to perform or to be entertained.

Magic is an acronym for Multi Arts Gallery & Instructional Center.

Many schools view the arts as a disposable part of our educational system. When budgets need to be cut, the arts are the first to feel the impact. James and Julie are very concerned that diminishing the arts will have a negative impact on our society, on future development in technology, and on our Nation's culture. It is through the arts that we are inspired to create. It is through the arts that communities are brought together.

What do you think of when you think about magic?

Maybe you think of sawing a woman in half, or pulling a rabbit out of a hat, or someone doing card tricks...

What do we think of when we think about magic?

We think of David Copperfield's Project Magic

An innovative program that uses magic as a form of therapy for people with physical, psychological, and social disabilities. Project Magic combines the talents of professionals in the entertainment field and those in the medical field to provide a quality of therapeutic training for patients far ahead of traditional rehabilitative programs and techniques. Patients involved with this fun, stimulating activity experience enhanced motivation.

We think of the child with Autism

One day a parent came into our studio and said her son wanted to be in a school talent show, The only problem was that he had autism. Had difficulty with speech, eye contact, and standing still. We helped developed routines that would compliment his strengths and avoid frustration. Kids in his classroom were amazed over the magic he performed. After his performance, his mother was in tears over the joy she experienced in watching her son do something she never thought possible.

We think of the child with Down Syndrome

When we first met this student, he had difficulty with speaking and fine motor skills making him quiet and reclusive. While working with him for several months he began to be more talkative and more engaging to the people around him. Magic gave him a sense of pride and confidence, because he was able to do something people thought was amazing. He performs regularly for his family and friends, and he has a tremendous memory for the things he has learned. He loved magic so much we continue to work with him, and he has performed in several of our shows.

We think of the child who is fighting cancer

When we were first introduced to this student, it was a sad story. He had bone cancer in his leg that could have cost him his limb, worse yet his life. During treatments, we began working with him by teaching him magic, giving him a distraction from what was going on. The more we worked on his magic, the more he began to focus on his greater potential, and less on the trauma of his day-to-day struggles. As he started to develop more confidence, he would perform for the other kids in the hospital as well as the medical staff. Magic was there at a time when he needed it most. Magic was a bright revitalization to a dark chapter in his life. Thankfully this story has a happy ending, he did not lose his leg, his cancer is now in remission, and he has graduated from high school.
